Tick Tock: A Tale for Two

Official Trailer

What kind of Coop Game is this?

Tick Tock: A Tale for two is avery unique coop experience. You can play in whatever setup you like since the game just two versions – A and B – in parallel on two devices. THis means you can play online , on the couch, cross-plattform or however you like. Version A needs Info from Version B to progress and the other way around and your task is to find out what info and transmit this info without showing your screen to the other person. You do this by talking, by chatting – even by mail or postcard if you so choose. It is a lot of fun and reminded us a bit of escape rooms. It is a very sombre and action-free experience but a great cooperative puzzle and brain teaser.

Why you should coop this:

It is very simple and effective and stands out as a coop experience since it is not really technically connected but the connection and information sharing between the players is necessary to progress. It is a solely coop affair and was designed that way and from experience this is always a good thing. It has great riddles and a very pleasent style and atmosphere. We really liked our time with it and felt a satisfactory sense of achievement when a puzzle was solved. It also encourages you to speak to one another and describe what you see and make your partner understand how it might connect to what he sees. It was a really original game experience and also suited for people who are not the typical video gamer. A small and original game that shows how different coop experiences in videogaming can be. We would love more games like this.

Shortcomings:

It is rather short and it would not be the best game suited for when you are tired becuase you have to concentrate and communicate a lot. It is also not the typical “videogamy action” type of game and with its focused nature might not be suitable for everyone.

Cooperative or Multiplayer Game?

Many games that are listed as Coop are games were you rather play together with players playing simultaneously. The true cooperative element comes in with working together, coordination and good teamwork. Both types are viable and can be great fun. Our aim is to let you know how this game handles this. More on this distinction under “About this Site”.

Communication Award

The game relies on your ability to describe what you see in a way that your partner can connect you descriptions to what he sees. You have to be quite thorough.
