Why you should coop this:

Really the only reason I can think of to why anyone should play this is that it is probably more fun than just having a videocall with your friends. But maybe not even that.

The game looked simple but potentially fun in the trailer and it has online coop so we tried it. You are jumping through one screen platforming levels and shoot up and down with your colorful squared monster. Sadly the coop is simply not fun. The blobby nature of the enemies make shooting awkward and the actions of one player often are dangerous for the others since the enemies split on hit and will change their bounce direction.

This could be all okay but everything in this game’s coop mode is brought down by the fact that when one of up to four players dies, everybody respawns at the checkpoint. This killed absolutely all the flow for us since when you are playing good it is quite frustrating to get booted back to checkpoint without any indication on what went wrong. When you do a fault yourself and cause a respawn you know what you did wrong and can improve. When you are one of the three players that did not die you just restart and it feels broken.

We played this for almost 2hrs and then collectively decided that we did not want to continue.

Shortcomings:

The collective respawn mechanic killed all enjoyment of this already simple game and drove us away quite quickly. This game is not recommended.

Cooperative or Multiplayer Game?

Many games that are listed as Coop are games were you rather play together with players playing simultaneously. The true cooperative element comes in with working together, coordination and good teamwork. Both types are viable and can be great fun. Our aim is to let you know how this game handles this. More on this distinction under “About this Site”.
