Why you should coop this:

Slabwell is a puzzle game with a coop mode and these are quite rare. We have no idea what the game is about or why it has this ridiculous title because all “story” must be in the single player cause in the coop mode there is none. This is not a problem. There are 50 coop Levels were you have to step on platforms in a certain order dictated by an ever growing set of rules and it has to coordinated with your partner so both players can complete their steps. This is in essence a mindteaser: How to platforms behave? How many steps can i think in advance? Can i step on them once or several times? Is this a jump platform or a platform that will turn your direction? Finding out how to proceed is a nice mix of trial and error, checking your options and once you got a good enough view on the situation talking with your coop partner how to combine both player’s movements so both players activate all they have to and land at the right tile in the end and avoid one player cutting off the other. The levels get increasingly complex and while you can wing some early levels the later ones need planing. New platforms are introduced throughout and well explained.

It is not that difficult or evolved but a fun, puzzly distraction.

Shortcomings:

The graphics of this game are functional. Nothing about this can be considered artsy.

There were some bugs that force you to reset to the last checkpoint – especially in the last level. You can easily spot the bugs and play around them and they do not keep you from completing the coop mode – it is just annoying.

All in all this is not a very polished game.

For us this was a fun distraction and we would have gladly taken another 50 levels that are more complex and difficult, so it left a little to be desired by being completed too quickly.

Cooperative or Multiplayer Game?

Many games that are listed as Coop are games were you rather play together with players playing simultaneously. The true cooperative element comes in with working together, coordination and good teamwork. Both types are viable and can be great fun. Our aim is to let you know how this game handles this. More on this distinction under “About this Site”.
